Dow Wire & Cable Underscores Commitment to Middle East Market at 2007 Middle East Electricity Exhibition

Horgen, Switzerland - February 01, 2007

Dow Wire & Cable, a market-facing global business of The Dow Chemical Company, will demonstrate its commitment to the Middle East market by participating in the 2007 Middle East Electricity Exhibition (February 11-14, 2007, Dubai International Exhibition Centre, Stand No. IC31 in Hall 1).  The exhibition, taking place in Dubai, home of Dow’s regional headquarters, is one of the world’s leading showcases for electrical power generation and distribution technologies.  In addition to hosting exhibit space at the event, Dow Wire & Cable will host a technical seminar for customers on February 12.

The primary focus of Dow Wire & Cable is to provide innovative, value-creating solutions for a broad spectrum of power, telecommunications, flame-retardant and specialty wire and cable applications. These solutions offer cable manufacturers and end users an exceptional portfolio of plastics-enhanced materials and compounds used as insulation, semi-conductive, flame-retardant and jacketing materials, along with technical support that extends from formulation through installation.
The products on display at Dow Wire & Cable’s stand (#IC31) will include:

  • HFDK-4202 EC, a long-life water tree-retardant and crosslinkable polyethylene (TR-XLPE) compound that provides extended cable life, improved reliability and lower system costs for in-ground medium and high-voltage power distribution.

  • HFDK-4201 SC, a super-clean natural crosslinkable polyethylene compound with a high purity, ideal for underground high voltage power cables.

  • HFDA-0801 BK HV, a super-smooth, extra clean XLPE semiconductor shield and bonded insulation shield/extra clean super-smooth conductor shielding (copper and aluminum) and bonded insulation shielding for unmatched long-life cable performance of high voltage/medium voltage power cables.

  • HFDK-0587 BK, an XPLE semiconductor shield and bonded insulation shield/compound for conductor shielding (copper and aluminum) and bonded insulation shielding of medium and high voltage power cables.

Dow will also present a technical seminar at the exhibition on February 12, 2007 from 14:00 to 15:00, titled “Advances in Cable Materials that Enhance Reliability while Lowering Total Life Cycle Costs for Utilities.” The seminar will focus on the value that proven cable material systems can deliver to utilities seeking to optimize the cost of power delivery while enhancing system reliability.  It will be presented by S. Ram Ramachandran, Global End Use Marketing Manager, Dow Wire & Cable.
